With the advent of HVAC grading, ENERGY STAR offers unprecedented value for builders and owners alike. Listen to this session, presented on September 30, 2021, to get a fresh perspective on the seven essential features that certification adds above and beyond a good energy rating and learn about new resources for convincing builders to join or rejoin the program.
To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must be certified under Version 3 of the program requirements, unless it is located within a U.S. state or territory utilizing a regional specification. Working with a Home Energy Rater, builders configure the preferred set of energy measures for their home and verify that the resulting Energy Rating Index meets or exceeds the ENERGY STAR Energy Rating Index Target. The National Program Requirements contain more information about how the target is defined and the typical measures used to meet this target.
For homes located in some U.S. states and territories, ENERGY STAR has developed region-specific Version 3 program requirements. This document defines the core efficiency specifications under Version 3 of the program for ENERGY STAR certified homes located in Guam, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
