Xcel Energy (Colorado) is an electric utility and natural gas company serving counties across the state. To help residents increase energy efficiency when rebuilding from the 2021 Marshall fire, the utility offered a range of incentives tied to the ENERGY STAR® program. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Supporting the construction of more than 1,800 ENERGY STAR certified homes, six of which also met the criteria for EPA’s new ENERGY STAR NextGen Homes and Apartments program.
  • Hosting meetings with the community, builders, and energy rating companies to answer questions about rebuilding, energy efficiency, and available incentives, including for building ENERGY STAR and ENERGY STAR NextGen certified homes.
  • Providing resources to affected customers, including materials describing the benefits of ENERGY STAR and energy-efficient home construction.
  • Offering ongoing training to builders and energy rating companies on ENERGY STAR certification, beneficial electrification, and HVAC grading.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
