Vornado Realty Trust is a fully integrated real estate investment trust. Vornado maintained its robust energy management program, advanced its decarbonization strategy, and consistently promoted ENERGY STAR® and energy efficiency programs throughout its organization and to its tenants. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Achieving ENERGY STAR certification for eight buildings.
  • Benchmarking 100% of its assets for energy and water, and 68% for waste, in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®.
  • Focusing on comprehensive enhancements to achieve decarbonization by 2030 by incorporating operational best practices, meeting with building operating engineers and tenants, and providing resources and disseminating complex greenhouse gas emissions reduction requirements.
  • Leveraging the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s On-Site Energy Manager Program to hire a full-time employee to develop a portfolio decarbonization strategy and to track and monitor building performance to ensure that it is on track to meet corporate goals.
  • Hosting its 9th and 10th Tenant Roundtable events for tenants in New York and San Francisco, covering topics such as carbon neutrality, progress on climate commitments, and tenant-landlord engagement efforts such as ENERGY STAR Tenant Space recognition.
  • Investing nearly $1.6 million in capital energy efficiency projects, expected to save 500,000 kWh of electricity and yield annual savings of about $600,000.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
