Samsung Electronics is a manufacturer of home appliances, consumer electronics, and mobile communications. Samsung increased its selection of ENERGY STAR certified models by 15% to include 549 ENERGY STAR base models. Those certified product efficiency improvements have helped consumers avoid over 350 million metric tons of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to taking over 77 million cars off the road for a year. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Certifying more than 81% of its appliances to ENERGY STAR, including 100% of dishwashers and front-load washers, 95% of refrigerators, 57% of top-load washers, and 39% of dryers.
  • Being the first major TV manufacturer to certify to the updated ENERGY STAR TV specification and the first mass-market platform to earn the ENERGY STAR Smart Home Energy Management System certification.
  • Certifying Samsung’s first standard-sized heat pump dryer.
  • Celebrating ENERGY STAR on Time Square billboards, resulting in an estimated 2.1 million impressions, and promoting ENERGY STAR appliances and electronics for ENERGY STAR Day, generating more than 40.5 million views.
  • Showing leadership as a significant returning co-sponsor of the ENERGY STAR Products Partner Meeting to support and advance the work of the ENERGY STAR program.
  • Deploying 3,218 ENERGY STAR certified laptops to new hire employees and highlighting ENERGY STAR as part of its sustainability education and focus on energy efficiency and partnership with ENERGY STAR.
  • Obtaining three additional ENERGY STAR Tenant Space recognitions, which brings the total coverage to 36% of its leased office space.
  • Partnering with the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry and committing two of its manufacturing plants to achieve a target 10% reduction in energy use intensity.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
