Piedmont Office Realty Trust, Inc. is a real estate investment trust. Piedmont has leveraged its ENERGY STAR® partnership and resources to develop innovative ways to communicate the value of energy efficiency to its tenants and employees. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Achieving ENERGY STAR certification for 47 buildings.
  • Committing to the Science Based Targets initiative, working toward the goal of reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 50%, compared with a 2018 baseline, by 2030.
  • Developing a template for each property to use in response to tenant sustainability data requests, including energy, water, and waste data, as well as the building’s ENERGY STAR score and whether it has achieved ENERGY STAR certification.
  • Continuing to develop its Sustainability Guide and integrating the contents into its Tenant Handbook, with energy saving recommendations and educational resources, including ENERGY STAR resources.
  • Promoting its partnership with ENERGY STAR, as well as its ENERGY STAR certified buildings, in social media; property websites; its corporate website; tenant communications; environmental, social, and governance reports; building lobbies; and property management newsletters.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
