MetLife has demonstrated ongoing dedication to corporate sustainability, leveraging the ENERGY STAR® program to achieve its energy efficiency and decarbonization goals and engaging internal and external stakeholders on energy management best practices. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Achieving ENERGY STAR certification for 42 properties.
  • Reducing its portfolio average weather-normalized source energy use intensity by nearly 5% from 2022 to 2023.
  • Conducting four ENERGY STAR Treasure Hunts to identify low- and no-cost energy saving measures, and hosting Treasure Hunt trainings with third-party property management teams, architects, and asset managers.
  • Using a building’s ENERGY STAR score to account for potential transition risks, such as exposure to building performance laws.
  • Disseminating energy conservation measure surveys across select assets to identify opportunities for energy efficiency.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
