Kohl’s, Inc. is a specialty department store retail chain. Kohl’s reduced absolute energy use by 3.5%, contributing to a 49% reduction in carbon emissions since 2014 by leveraging ENERGY STAR® tools and resources. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Certifying 20 department stores as ENERGY STAR.
  • Completing 229 LED retrofit projects, estimated to save more than 20 million kWh.
  • Deploying 5 MW of solar at 15 stores and helping spur the development of community solar by subscribing to four local projects.
  • Running the screen ad “You’re charging at an ENERGY STAR certified Kohl’s store” at 69 certified locations with electric vehicle charging stations and expanding electric vehicle charging stations to 173 locations.
