IREM

IREM is an international commercial real estate association for property and asset managers. IREM has continued to promote sustainability and energy efficiency within its certification program, with a focus on leveraging the ENERGY STAR® program to achieve significant energy reductions. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

• Advancing the IREM Certified Sustainable Property (CSP) program to include 1,930 IREM CSPs. This program incorporates ENERGY STAR tools and resources and supports real estate managers in benchmarking and resource efficiency.
• Launching the Jackson Control Sustainability Awards Program in partnership with the IREM Foundation and Jackson Control, which uses ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® data to identify top performers among CSP properties.
• Launching the CSP recognition for self-storage properties, incorporating ENERGY STAR tools and resources.
• Continuing to leverage and expand its use of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager web services to collect and analyze property performance data for the CSP program. A total of 1,545 properties were shared with IREM’s account, up 123% from 2022.
• Continuing to deliver training and communications that incorporate ENERGY STAR tools and resources.
