Hexion Inc., a producer of adhesives and performance materials used to produce engineered wood products and other specialty materials, recommended the ENERGY STAR® industrial partnership to another chemical manufacturer that subsequently joined the program. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Decreasing energy intensity by 42% and greenhouse gas intensity by 33% since 2014.
  • Completing 17 energy projects for a savings of $573,000.
  • Including a new category in the criteria for the company’s capital funding to ensure that projects involving energy and greenhouse gas emissions are represented among their business priorities.
  • Elevating energy in the company’s environmental health and safety site awards to drive greater energy reductions.
  • Achieving the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry at one of three sites taking the Challenge.
