Set-top Box Specification Version 4.1
The Version 4.1 ENERGY STAR specification for Set-top Boxes is currently under review. Materials related to this process are provided below. Stakeholders who received past communications related to the development of Version 3.0 and 4.0 will continue to receive updates on this review effort. EPA has updated relevant ENERGY STAR electronics product specifications to reflect that the Single- and Multiple-voltage EPSs shall meet the Level V or higher performance requirements under the International Efficiency Marking Protocol. This update does not affect currently certified products but rather allows products with a level VI EPS to be certified as ENERGY STAR.
On April 4, 2014, EPA released the final Version 4.1 STB Program Requirements for Manufacturers and Service Providers.
In response to stakeholder comments on the Final Draft specification, EPA released a supplemental testing and certification proposal on March 7, 2014.
EPA released the Final Draft of the Version 4.1 Specification for Set-top Boxes on January 23. The draft and associated documents can be accessed through the links below. Stakeholders are invited to review these documents and submit comments to EPA via email to stbs@energystar.gov by Wednesday, February 12. EPA held a stakeholder webinar on Monday, September 16th. The slide deck below contains changes reflecting discussion during the webinar.
The memo linked below presents the core changes EPA expects to include in the forthcoming Final Draft Version 4.1 ENERGY STAR Set-top Box Specification. EPA is also releasing Draft Version 4.1 STB Manufacturer Partner Commitments for stakeholder review.
