ENERGY STAR Version 2.1 Furnace Specification - Decision to Not Move Forward with Revision

EPA has decided not to revise the current ENERGY STAR Version 2.0 Furnace specification at this time. More details regarding this decision are provided in the EPA memo, below.

EPA has finalized the ENERGY STAR Version 2.0 specification for Furnaces. The new specification includes a Tier I 83% AFUE requirement for oil furnaces that became effective October 27, 2006. EPA is continuing work on developing a furnace fan efficiency requirement for both gas and oil furnaces under Tier II, scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2008. This Web page will be updated periodically as new information is received.
