Climate Controls Specification Version 1.0
On June 9, 2014 EPA announced a new approach under which residential HVAC controls would be recognized as ENERGY STAR based on their ability to save energy in consumers’ homes. Minimum ease of use criteria have been dropped in favor of this approach. This page remains available as an archive.
Partners and other interested parties who would like to participate in the ongoing process are encouraged to visit the ENERGY STAR Connected Thermostats specification development page and to send their contact information to ConnectedThermostats@energystar.gov to be added to the distribution list for specification development updates. Archived information on this Residential Climate Controls webpage will not be updated further.
