Seal and Insulate Key Product Criteria

RequirementCurrent Criteria
Minimum R-value≥ R-3.0 in the thicknesses in which they are sold to consumers
Smoke Burning CharacteristicsInsulation product/product family must demonstrate the surface burning characteristics of flame-spread index and smoke-development index as required by the most current International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC).

The current ENERGY STAR criteria for insulation products became effective March 2013.

Test Method for ENERGY STAR Certified Insulation

Depending on product type, ENERGY STAR insulation (Seal & Insulate) certification requires use of the test methods listed below:
