ENERGY STAR Helps Consumers Save with Heat Pump Technology

Advancing innovative and energy efficient heat pump technology is key to realizing a clean energy future, and the ENERGY STAR program is working to educate the public on how those technologies can help them make energy choices that count. The ENERGY STAR program recently finalized new performance standards for residential water heaters and heating/cooling equipment, making it easier than ever for American households to realize the benefits of clean and energy efficient technologies that will help them save energy, save money and protect the environment from climate change.
New Specifications:
- Final Version 6.0 ENERGY STAR® Central Air Conditioner and Heat Pump (CAC/HP) Final Specification and the ENERGY STAR Cold Climate Heat Pump Final Controls Verification Procedure (CVP).
- Final Version 4.0 ENERGY STAR® Water Heater specification and the Final ENERGY STAR Test Method to Validate Demand Response.
These updated requirements introduce a new ENERGY STAR Cold Climate designation that will help consumers and contractors easily identify equipment optimized for low outside temperatures and take an important step forward in addressing issues associated with equipment installation and maintenance through the promotion of emerging technology solutions like automatic fault detection and diagnostics.
