(NT Servers present no obstacle to power management. The following addresses desktop computers running Windows NT 4.0 Workstation only.)
Transition to Windows 2000 or XP
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation operating system does not support power management. Computers running Windows NT cannot be set for monitor power management by EZ Wizard, EZ Save, or manual enablement through the system settings. However, Microsoft no longer supports Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and many large organizations are transitioning to Windows 2000 or XP. During the transition to Windows 2000 or XP, simple options are available to enable monitor power management throughout your organization. Learn more about the Windows 2000 or XP transition.
However, if you are not planning to transition to Windows 2000 or XP in the next year, please contact us to learn more. In addition, please see the attached case studies on how Pitney Bowes (Word) and Oracle (Word) used hardware solutions, Monitor Miser and Wattstopper, respectively, to activate monitor power management on their computers. (These case studies do not in any way represent EPA endorsement of the Monitor Miser product.)
