Andrew Fanara
US EPA
Andrew Fanara manages the ENERGY STAR Product Specifications Development Team. ENERGY STAR is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Protection Partnership Division. The ENERGY STAR Program is intended to help businesses and individuals protect the environment by identifying products with superior energy efficiency and water savings.
Mr. Fanara’s team is responsible for writing product specifications and for teaming with manufacturers to encourage the design, manufacture, and sale of products that meet them. Mr. Fanara’s team also manages the program’s national energy model which is used to track energy consumption, savings and market penetration data for ENERGY STAR products sold in the US. Lastly, Mr. Fanara is responsible for managing the implementation of a product compliance testing verification initiative and for managing policy coordination with countries using ENERGY STAR in their markets. This includes Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Canada, China, and the European Union.
Peter Gross, P.E.
Chief Executive Officer, EYP Mission Critical Facilities
Peter Gross serves as CEO of EYP Mission Critical Facilities (EYP MCF). Since founding the Mission Critical Group in 1997, Peter has been a strategic force in the rapid growth and development of EYP MCF. His responsibilities include strategic technology planning and business development, as well as assuring the quality of the consulting and engineering services, and maintaining direct communication with clients. Peter is a leading thinker and practitioner of mission critical information and infrastructure design with numerous published technical papers and frequent speaking engagements. His focus centers on mission critical facilities, high-reliability design and power quality. He has more than 20 years experience in the engineering and design of power systems, as applied to data centers, trading floors, command and control centers, and telecommunication and broadcasting facilities.
Dick Sullivan
Senior Marketing Manager, EMC Corporation
Dick Sullivan is a seven-year veteran of EMC. As Senior Marketing Manager, he is responsible for the development, marketing and coordination of customer facing energy-efficiency programs and technical resources. He has extensive experience in the IT industry, including enterprise systems marketing, and consulting and technology education programs. Prior to joining EMC, Dick was Director of Business Development for four years at Polaris Service and spent 17 years in IT services management at Harvard University.
Lorie Wigle
Director of Technologies Marketing, Intel's Digital Enterprise Group
Lorie and her team are responsible for taking to market Intel platform technologies, including virtualization, power management, I/O and security. Her team also drives Intel's hardware industry technology enabling efforts. Lorie is responsible for Intel's energy efficiency platform, and for driving engagement with the energy industry for Intel's business product lines. She has been with Intel for 23 years in a wide variety of marketing and product planning roles, and was formerly the General Manager of Intel's Internet Imaging Services group.
Christian Belady
Principal Power and Cooling Architect, Microsoft
Christian is a recognized power and cooling expert in the IT industry. Over the past decade, his primary focus has been on efficient computing and high density cooling in data centersand has given many presentations and keynotes on these topics. He is one of the founders of the American Society for Heating Refrigeration Engineers TC9.9 committee, which has a mission to provide guidelines and standards for the data center environment. He is also one of the early founders of the Green Grid where he now leads the Metrics and Measurement Work Group. He works closely with government agencies in defining efficiency metrics for data centers and servers, many of which are based on papers he has authored.
At the time of the recording of this podcast, Christian was a Distinguished Technologist in HP's Scalable Datacenter Infrastructure team, where he was the lead strategist for HP's power and cooling initiatives. In that role, he was instrumental in positioning HP with analysts, the press and customers as a leader in green and efficient technologies in data centers. Christian was also one of HP's most prolific inventors with 53 U.S. patents.
