Addressing Market Challenges (Part 1 of 2)

We have come a long way in building consumer awareness and sales for ENERGY STAR qualified lighting products. This session will identify and prioritize the remaining barriers to market facing efficient lighting, as well as how these have changed over time. To identify which barriers are the most important to address to further build market sales, the session will examine these opportunities from different angles based on the perspectives of different partners.

This session will lay the groundwork for the second part of this discussion, on Thursday, March 2 at 8:00AM, where ideas for possible long-term solutions to these barriers will be addressed.

Addressing Market Challenges (Part 2 of 2)

Energy savings potential from the use of ENERGY STAR qualified lighting is tremendous. However, consumers must understand the technology and be satisfied with the performance in order to become repeat purchasers of these products. Building on yesterday's discussion of the remaining market barriers facing efficient lighting, this session will outline ideas for long-range strategies to help increase the market share for ENERGY STAR qualified lighting. The discussion will attempt to identify possible roles partners can play in helping to achieve lasting success, based on the nature of their specific business models and mandates in the market.

Topical Session A: Promoting Fixtures in New Construction

The interest in ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures for the new construction market is growing rapidly. Builders are specifying qualified product for their model homes and in larger numbers for new developments, either as the standard lighting package or as an upgrade option for home-buyers. What is driving the industry to choose ENERGY STAR Advanced Lighting Packages? What old and new barriers exist in the marketplace? What support do builders want from utilities? These and many other questions builders, utilities, and manufacturers have will be addressed through this session.
