KEYNOTE SPEAKERBob Balzar, Director of Energy Efficiency and Customer Strategy Bob's department is responsible for approximately $20 million in energy education, efficiency, conservation and renewable energy programs each year in Nevada. Mr. Balzar is a member of the Nevada Renewable and Energy Conservation Task force, a group of ten industry leaders that advises the Governor and Nevada Legislature on energy issues. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP), a research and advocacy group promoting energy efficiency and conservation in the desert southwest. |

TOPICAL SESSIONSTITLE 24 AND ITS IMPACT ON THE LIGHTING MARKETThis panel session will discuss the impacts of California Title 24 on the lighting market from utility, manufacturer, lighting designer, and EPA perspectives. An overview of Title 24 requirements will be presented, and an ENERGY STAR representative will discuss how ENERGY STAR specifications compare to those of Title 24 codes. EPA will also provide an update on its activities to promote ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures in the California Market. Also, ways manufacturers can help educate builders on how to find and purchase ENERGY STAR qualified fixtures that meet the Title 24-2005 residential lighting requirements will be discussed. IN SEARCH OF: ENERGY STAR QUALIFIED CFL MARKET SHAREGathering lighting product data is a burdensome task, but gathering consistent, plentiful and useful data sometimes seems impossible. This session will review ENERGY STAR's program progress on collecting national and regional qualified CFL product sales data and will identify the barriers and in process solutions to developing national market share baseline for ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs. ENERGY STAR QUALIFIED FIXTURES: WHAT'S ON THE HORIZONThis session will discuss the outcome of the standardized line-voltage socket competition, the advantages to using the line-voltage socket, and EPA's future implementation plans. Presenters will address how this technology will affect both fixture manufacturers as well as their component suppliers. In addition, the status of fixture dimmability, including: availability, and 2- and 3- wired dimmable ballasts technology, and future trends will be discussed. TOPICAL SESSIONSON-LINE BULK PURCHASING TOOL FOR ENERGY STAR QUALIFIED CFLSThe Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) was created by DOE to assist low-income families in reducing their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient. In 2002, WAP developed an initiative to aid state weatherization agencies in developing bulk purchasing programs to procure ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators for installation in weatherized homes. Based on the success of this program, WAP has worked with ENERGY STAR to develop an online bulk-purchasing tool for qualified CFLs. Presenters will demonstrate the features of the on-line tool from both the purchaser and supplier vantage point.
