Home manufacturers can enjoy all the benefits of ENERGY STAR by participating in the ENERGY STAR Manufactured New Homes program.

This information applies to homes built in a factory that are subject to the federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (commonly referred to as the HUD Code) contained in 24 CFR 3280. Builders and developers of site-built and modular single family homes and multifamily buildings can learn about participation.

Plant Certification

Manufactured homes plants must meet the following requirements prior to certifying homes as ENERGY STAR:

  1. Become an ENERGY STAR partner by filling out an ENERGY STAR Partnership Agreement. There is no cost to partner with ENERGY STAR or use ENERGY STAR promotional materials.
    Become a Partner
  2. Complete the plant certification process through an EPA-recognized Quality Assurance Provider (QAP). A list of recognized QAPs can be found at www.energystar.gov/manufacturedhomes. Contact QAPs for step-by-step guidance.

Once certified, plants can produce ENERGY STAR certified manufactured homes using the ENERGY STAR program requirements.
