Energy Efficiencies Solutions is on a mission to save our planet-one home at a time.
Using the whole-house approach characteristic of the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program, Energy Efficiencies Solutions (EES) performs specialized tests to find the sources of homeowners' energy issues. From the start of the project with an energy assessment to the test-out and quality assurance visits, EES works alongside homeowners to meet their priorities for a comfortable, safe and energy efficient home. Leticia Colon de Mejias, president of the company's Green Eco Warrior project explains, "Our business [is] ensuring a home is safe and comfortable in all seasons, identifying areas for home improvements, and providing scientifically based information on energy upgrades, return on investment information and guidance. When the homeowner is ready to install the recommended upgrades, we work hand-in-hand with the customer to perform all the work within industry and safety standards."
Homeowners who participate in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR often find out during the initial energy assessment that their homes are leaky, lack proper levels of insulation, and their heating and cooling equipment is outdated and inefficient. "These problems are easily addressed by the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR participating contractor. We can save homeowners thousands of dollars a year simply by insulating and air-sealing properly or replacing outdated poor functioning equipment," says Colon de Mejias.
Education is a defining characteristic of EES' business model. Like all participating contractors, EES aims to educate entire families about conserving energy and reducing waste. Home Performance with ENERGY STAR's simple approach to helping homeowners understand how the different systems in their homes work together is a valuable offering for EES. "Home Performance with ENERGY STAR provides a unique platform by defining a process for translating complicated building-science principles into solutions for homeowners seeking to improve the energy efficiency, comfort, health, and durability of their homes," remarks Colon de Mejias.
EES is active in its local community and schools, as well as in developing the local workforce with training opportunities and mentoring programs. Colon de Mejias has authored two children's books, Dinero Learns to Save Energy and Pesky Plastic. Much like how Home Performance with ENERGY STAR recognizes the interdependence of systems in a home, EES sees the interconnectedness of its community members and the benefits of promoting energy efficiency in unique and effective ways.
"We are vested in learning all that we can about the environmental impacts humans have on the earth and utilizing scientific data to increase conservation of our planet's resources, increase general awareness and spark action in order to positively impact the world around us," says Colon de Mejias. At EES, the commitment begins with helping homeowners understand how their homes use energy and offering solutions for improving energy efficiency.
