A. Home Renovation and ENERGY STAR Lighting: Capturing Lost Opportunities

With interest rates at historic lows over the past few years, there has been tremendous investment by consumers in the renovation of their current homes and purchases of existing homes. Typical home renovations include kitchens, family rooms, bathrooms, new additions, and redecorating existing rooms. All of these activities create opportunities to install ENERGY STAR qualified lighting. Panelists will discuss strategies for increasing the purchase and installation of ENERGY STAR qualified lighting in renovation projects including how and when to impact consumer renovation lighting decisions, current product options, and challenges working with the renovation industry. Suggestions for a utility role including coordination with remodeling firms, retailers, and manufacturers will be explored.
