Enterprise Servers Specification Version 2.0
The Version 2.0 ENERGY STAR specification for Computer Servers has been finalized and will take effect on December 16, 2013. Materials related to the revision process are provided below. Partners and other interested parties with questions or concerns regarding these materials or the revision process can contact Steven Hanson, EPA, Hanson.Steven@epa.gov. To be added to the contact list, stakeholders are encouraged to contact servers@energystar.gov with their contact information. Manufacturers may elect to have their certification body (CB) certify their eligible products to the Version 2.0 requirements from now on. EPA has released a memo below clarifying that certifying to the ENERGY STAR Version 2.0 Computer Servers Program shall require using the newly updated SERT Version 1.1.0. from this point forward.
EPA and the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) held an off-season, in-person stakeholder meeting on June 24th and 25th to discuss follow-up topics related to the Version 2.0 specification and the development of the upcoming Version 3.0 specification. On August 19th, EPA launched the dataset assembly effort for Computer Servers. Below are materials distributed at that time: a timeline of milestones and data due dates, a test method for this effort, and a dataset assembly form for all data submissions. All data must be received electronically via email to servers@energystar.gov by the dates specified.
EPA released an updated Dataset Discussion Document that incorporates requested clarifications and suggestions received from stakeholders. It is intended as a resource for further stakeholder feedback and discussion, specifically addressing the following:
- Remind stakeholders of the dataset effort goals and scope
- Reflect stakeholder comments received on the five-point family testing proposal
- Review the configuration permutations that are of interest to EPA
- Describe EPA's thoughts on the possible role of modeling data in the effort (derived from manufacturer power calculators)
- Revise the program development timeline
EPA held a conference call on April 21, 2011 as an opportunity for stakeholders and Certification Bodies to discuss the certification and verification processes for servers and workstations.

As noted during the call SPEC has released an updated version of their SERT Design Document. This document information on preliminary schedule, workload and worklet descriptions, and other updates. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the document at the link below.
