Georgia Power Headquarters
241 Ralph McGill Blvd Bin 10009
Atlanta, GA 30308
Completed in 1980, this 24-story building is constructed of concrete with tempered spandrel glass panels. Contiguous to the 24-story tower is a three-story connector building, which houses Georgia Power's 24/7 operations. The property also supports a five-story gated parking deck and a 16-acre fenced campus including a park with an open-air pavilion and a 10,000-square-foot, 100-percent recycled rubber walking trail. The facility is the center for utility load control, the computer center, television studio, print shop, and commercial dining facility.
The building was designed with energy efficiency in mind. Structured to shade itself, the design combines the stepped-back cantilevered feature with 12-inch shading tubes and 20-percent reflective insulated vision glass (U= .53, SC= 0.23) for 100 percent coverage of the south face. The north face of the building receives minimal sun exposure. The east and west faces, which have the highest irradiation, are thermally buffered by housing the elevator banks and mechanical/electrical support rooms adjacent to these windowless walls.
Deeply rooted in the core culture and foundation of Georgia Power Company is the belief in safety, sustainability, energy management and conservation, and other related concepts that are environmental and health friendly. That is one of the reasons Georgia Power Company and Carter have proven to be such a solid and effective team. Our values and operating philosophies have been very supportive and complimentary of one another.
Valuing the health and safety of others, the desire to make the world a better place to live and work, and the mission of supporting our clients needs have resulted in the creation of many company programs and policies that Carter has established, implemented, and maintained for the benefit of Georgia Power and other clients.
