901 D Street,SW
Washington, DC 20024
10-story 378,000-square-foot office building in Southwest Washington D.C.; directly south of the Mall. The capsule-shaped building, designed by architects Eiseman-Robertson, incorporates a symmetrical trio of projecting bays along L'Enfant Promenade with a cladding of green marble, architectural precast and gray glass.
The ENERGY STAR label was achieved by 370 L'Enfant Promenade through a series of energy saving features and retrofits, including the installation of a computerized Building Automation System for equipment control, the use of variable frequency drives on the motors of air handling units and other equipment, the use of economizer coils on air handling units (allowing their use without compressor operation) and a building lighting retrofit. The building lighting retrofit alone saving over 900,000 kWh per year. Operationally, building managers at 370 L'Enfant Promenade emphasize preventative maintenance and operational monitoring to ensure that building equipment operates at full capacity and maximum efficiency.
