The Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners had a vision nearly a decade ago to use tools provided by the EPA and work with local vendors to make updates to the historic courthouse completed in 1889 to enhance energy efficiency and save taxpayer dollars. Blue Earth County first earned the ENERGY STAR Award for the Courthouse in 2006 and it continues to be the only Courthouse in Minnesota to achieve ENERGY STAR certification. Blue Earth County works promote ENERGY STAR products and practices to constituents and others across the United States through individual efforts and its partnership with the National Association of Counties.
Communications:
Blue Earth County is active in spreading the word about ENERGY STAR programs through ongoing public outreach opportunities such as our special ENERGY STAR Concert on the Courthouse Lawn event, circulating ENERGY STAR information to all county residences and by giving presentations locally, state-wide and at the national level on behalf of ENERGY STAR programs and products.
