Rush Oak Park Hospital was one of only two hospitals in Illinois to earn the ENERGY STAR in 2009, and one of three hospitals in Illinois to earn it to date. The building's energy performance rates in the top 25 percent of facilities nationwide.

Rush Oak Park Hospital, a key community health care provider in the Oak Park and River Forest community of Illinois for more than 100 years, is a clinical partner of Rush University Medical Center. Rush Oak Park Hospital combines the convenience and personal touch of a community hospital with the technology and expertise of a major university medical center. Rush Oak Park Hospital also is affiliated with Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Inc., a Catholic housing and health care ministry. Both organizations share a commitment to providing exceptional and compassionate health care service that promotes the dignity and wellbeing of their patients. Opened in 1907 by the Sisters of Misericordia, Rush Oak Park Hospital was the first hospital in the area. Today it is firmly rooted in history and invested in the future.

Rush Oak Park Hospital houses a comprehensive Emergency Department, staffed with a board-certified physician 24 hours a day. The mission of the Department is to provide exceptional quality of care with the shortest possible waiting times. The campus also is home to the 135,000-square-foot Rush Medical Office Building, which houses an advanced MRI operated in cooperation with Oak Park Imaging Services; the Rush Pain Management Center; the Rush Outpatient Pharmacy; and about 30 medical offices. Off-campus, the Rush Oak Park Physicians' Group has practices in Oak Park, Hillside, Elmwood Park and North Riverside.

Testimonial:

"A lot of changes have been implemented over the years, but 2009 is by far the biggest. We're very pleased to accept EPA's ENERGY STAR in recognition of our energy efficiency efforts. Through this achievement, we have demonstrated our commitment to environmental stewardship while also lowering our energy costs."

-- James Tucker, Director of Facilities and Security, Rush Oak Park Hospital
