Built in 1902, the Washington County Courthouse is located in Marietta, Ohio. The Washington County Commissioners, owner and property manager of the building, teamed with Perfection Group, Inc. to address and improve the energy performance of the Courthouse. This project included energy efficiency upgrades such as converting the building's lighting to T-8 technology, installing energy management controls to set back temperatures during unoccupied times, upgrading heating and cooling systems, replacing windows, and incorporating water conserving technologies.
The Washington County Commissioners received the Perfection Energy Commitment Award of Excellence in August 2009 for achieving a 24-percent reduction in energy usage at the Courthouse Building, compared with its 2005 baseline.
From September 2006 to May 2007, Perfection Group, Inc. installed and initiated the following energy conservation measures to help the Courthouse Building earn the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance:
