building

Ashley Ridge High School, located in Summerville, SC, serves students in grades 9 through 12 with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 students and 265,000 square feet of space.

The majority of the lighting for classrooms and office areas are higher efficiency T-8 linear fluorescent light fixtures. The school’s gyms also have higher efficiency compact fluorescent sport lighting. The school’s heating and cooling equipment is comprised mainly of split systems with direct digital controls (DDC) for temperature control and scheduling of this equipment. The DDC system employs technologies to limit power consumption and equipment operational time while maintaining a comfortable environment. The DDC system was installed during construction.

Dorchester School District Two’s Facilities Department remotely controls and monitors the school's energy usage. The Facilities Department also performs all equipment and after-hours scheduling as requested by the school.

“As a school community, energy conservation is critical to the efficient workings of our physical plant. As a school, we want to be a part of the solution, not be part of the problem.”
