Fairfield Elementary opened in September of 1975 and comprises approximately 58,300 square feet of space. Located in the densely populated Virginia Beach borough of Kempsville, the school serves the neighborhoods of Fairfield, Fairfield Gardens, Fairfield Forest, Newlight, Lake Archway, Carriage Mill, Woodbridge, Lake James, Saginaw Estates, Stoneybrook, Jamestowne, Homestead, Birnam, Haven Heights, Haven Estates, and Whitehurst Grove.
