An emphasis on energy management and sustainability is standard practice at Urban Centre. The on-site Jones Lang LaSalle management team continually applies no- and low-cost energy efficiency measures including an enhanced preventative maintenance program and optimized HVAC start/stop times.
As part of ongoing energy management efforts, several upgrades have been completed. A new building automation system with direct digital controls (DDC) helps enhance energy efficiency and controllability of building systems. Low-flow aerators are being added to restroom faucets, which reduces both water and energy use. Other energy efficient technologies contributing to the buildings' high energy performance ratings include variable speed drives on HVAC equipment, T-8 and compact fluorescent lighting (CFLs), and LED exit signs. Additionally, a recycling program for occupant waste was recently implemented and new variable speed high-efficiency chillers and pumps have been installed in 2016.
