Located just a
block away from the heart of Boston's Financial District, One
Twenty Five High Street enjoys both a commanding site in the
downtown area and a border to what has become the City's most
prized public space since the completion of the Central Artery/
Tunnel project. The project, commonly known as the Big Dig,
replaced Interstate 93, which currently runs through the center of
the City, with approximately 25 acres of public gardens. The
artery was placed underground and has been designed to handle the
City's growing traffic needs. It is considered the largest and
most complex highway project in American history. One Twenty Five
High Street benefited from a close proximity to both the access
ramps to the highway as well as the garden space.
The property,
which totals approximately 1.5 million square feet, encompasses a
full city block bounded by High, Oliver, Purchase, and Pearl
Streets. Its fantastic views of downtown and the harbor and its
proximity to Interstate 93, the Massachusetts Turnpike, and South
Station make it a highly desirable location.
One Twenty Five
High Street, designed by Jung Brannen Associates, was completed in
1991. With a footprint of 2.5 acres, the complex is composed of
two office towers and a renovated 19th-century building, all
connected by an 11-story glass atrium. The Oliver Street Tower is
comprised of approximately 504,000 square feet distributed on 21
floors, while the High Street Tower rises 30 floors for a total of
920,832 square feet. The complex is further complemented by 131
Oliver Street, a 6-story, 40,000-square-foot building. Although
the three structures are connected, each features its own entrance
and lobby. In addition, its parking garage consists of five
underground levels, which accommodate 849 cars.
