On April 13, 1999, Lockheed Martin Electronics & Missiles' Office Tower Building in Orlando, FL, became the second building to receive the ENERGY STAR Label. Constructed in 1982, the facility was one of the company's first office buildings to be higher than two stories, and it included some of Lockheed Martin's first efforts at performance contracting and value engineering during building construction. In 1992, the Office Tower Building's lighting system was upgraded as part of EPA's Green Lights initiative, using new technology that included installation of automatic timed lighting controls with motion sensors in conference rooms and offices.
Having obtained recognition for the Electronics & Missiles' Office Tower Building, Lockheed Martin recertified the building in 2011.
In 2015 Lockheed is anxiously awaiting the recertification again of the building.
Lockheed is committed to energy reduction and continues to implement new technologies and building management strategies that focus on reducing the carbon foot print and operating cost of its buildings.
