Center, managed by Signature Associates, was designed by John
Burgee Architects with Philip Johnson as design consultant.
At 45 stories,
One Detroit Center is Michigan's tallest building and makes the
point explicitly clear with an exuberant gabled rooftop, enhanced
by neo-gothic decorative spires along the ascending rooflines.
Oversized windows on the facade play with One Detroit Center's
scale as well, with fewer than 20 rows of windows cloaking more
than twice as many floors. The property contains 950,000 square
feet of net rentable office area, with 16,000 square feet of
retail. In 1996, One Detroit Center received the Urban Land
Institute's "Award for Excellence" in recognition of its
outstanding design.
