The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools formed in 1963 with the merger of the Winston-Salem and Forsyth County School systems. It is the fifth largest system in North Carolina and the 83rd largest in the nation.

Winston-Salem / Forsyth County Schools serves about 53,400 students with the goal of providing a quality education for each student.

Recent upgrades include the replacement of our gym lighting from 400 watt metal halide to T5 high bay lighting. Hall lighting throughout the school was upgraded to T8 lighting with the ability to reduce the lighting levels after hours. A new cooling tower, and new chiller replacement increased our efficiency and improved our building comfort levels. Energy Guidelines established by the School System and administrative support at the school level ensures energy waste is minimized.
