Constructed in 2010 and located in Washington, District of Columbia’s NoMa neighborhood, The Loree Grand is a ten-story, 212-unit multifamily community. The property is owned by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association-College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA) and managed by Bozzuto Management Company. Shortly after construction in 2010, the property management team at The Loree Grand began monitoring the energy performance of the common areas in EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager®. With a strong commitment to sustainability and support from ownership, the team worked to implement energy efficiency projects throughout the common areas and residential units. Notable projects implemented at the property include the installation of a variable frequency drive to control the building’s primary domestic water pump, the installation of seven-day programmable thermostats in amenity spaces, and the replacement of fluorescent lighting in the parking garage and building corridors with more efficient light-emitting diode (LED) lighting. Additionally, the property management team coordinated with local contractors and the Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) for the installation of web-enabled programmable thermostats in residential units.
