Hyatt Regency Washington, located just steps from the U.S. Capitol and adjacent to the National Mall , is a 11-story, 715,075 square-foot building that offers 836 newly renovated rooms including 30 suites, 38,000 square feet of meeting space, and a full service restaurant, Article One- American Grill. Additional offerings include a Stay Fit gym with indoor heated pool, a 24-hour FedEx Office, gift shop and coffee shop.

The hotel recently underwent a renovation that included guestrooms, corridors, HVAC upgrades and Thornton and Capitol meeting rooms. Hyatt Regency Washington has been awarded 4 Green Keys by Green Key Global and holds a Gold status as a TripAdvisor GreenLeader. Through various trainings and communications from its green team, the hotel regularly communicates green practices to its employees and encourages them to live conservatively both at work and at home. Host Hotels & Resorts, the hotel’s ownership group, is very energy conscious and value ROI and replacement projects that reduce energy consumption. They also encourage their properties to become Energy Star partners and acquire LEED certification. Over the past 9 years, the property and Host have invested in many upgrades to increase the energy efficiency of the building, including the following: All windows throughout the hotel were replaced with double pane thermal units, all air handlers and fan coil units were replaced, the lighting in renovated areas were replaced to fluorescent or LED lighting, the heating and hot water plant was replaced, and kitchen and refrigeration equipment were replaced with energy star rated equipment.

The hotel continuously looks for more ways to be even more efficient than it is today. Future projects include installing more LED lighting, and reusing condensed water and rain for the cooling tower. As a company, Hyatt Hotels has strategic initiatives and goals to reduce their electric, gas, and water usage and waste by the year 2020.
