Mimosa Elementary School opened as a small neighborhood school with ten classrooms in 1968. It has undergone numerous additions, including its largest in 2008 which added 18 classrooms to bring the total classroom count to 65. At the time of the addition, the existing school received a major overhaul of the HVAC system, which replaced existing gas heat/electric cooling roof top units on assembly and office areas and converted classroom systems to water source heat pumps and energy recovery units for pretreatment of outside air. The school has a robust direct digital control building automation system by Automated Logic Corporation. The building sits on a of a 15-acre site in the City of Roswell.
