The Navy League building, located in Arlington, Virginia, is a seven-story commercial office and retail building with a four-level parking garage. The tenants include restaurants, a law firm, and many service providers. The building was constructed in 2005 and is owned by the Navy League of the United States and is managed by Lincoln Property Company.
The Navy League building recently received ENERGY STAR certification and is working diligently to lessen the facility?s footprint on the environment. In 2011, Lincoln Property Company worked with Dominion Power to retrofit all the garage lighting. The garage now uses more efficient lighting that is brighter than the less-efficient model.
The Navy League building also has water saving toilets in all of the restrooms. The water in the toilets is known as grey water, and it comes from a spring found underneath the building. The building holds the natural water in a lead tank until it is ready to be used in the bathrooms, the cooling towers, etc.
Finally, the Navy League building is working with Arlington Transportation Partners to promote alternative methods to go to work. Lincoln Property Company is promoting the use of car and vanpools along with biking to work and the building is located across the street from the metro station as well as the bus. The Navy League building utilizes numerous methods to promote the conservation of energy and a cleaner environment.
