Developed, owned, and managed by Hines, Aegon Center is a 35-story, 680,000-square-foot office tower, and the tallest building in the state of Kentucky. Aegon Center was designed by John Burgee Architects, with Philip Johnson as Design Consultant. Its commanding profile is enhanced by striking structural excisions in the upper stories, and by a dramatically lit Romanesque dome that crowns the building. Aegon Center's carved granite exterior is accented by patterned granite paving in a half-acre street-level plaza, featuring decorative lamps, plants, flowering trees, and a quartet of fountains. Aegon Center includes 22,500 square feet of retail space.

Aegon Center earned the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance through both original design features and retrofits. Highly efficient fluorescent lamps with electronic ballasts are used to light the building. For its climate control systems, Aegon Center includes variable frequency drives (VFDs) on all of its air handling units, which enable the energy consumed by the climate control systems to vary with demand. Furthermore, both air- and water-side economizer capabilities are available.
