Two Shell Plaza is a square-foot International-Style office building in downtown Houston and a companion to the nearby One Shell Plaza. Similar to One Shell Plaza, Two Shell Plaza was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and is clad in travertine marble. The same marble is used in Two Shell's interior spaces. Tenant convenience is enhanced by 12 levels of parking within the building, two retail levels, and a connection to an underground tunnel system that links Two Shell Plaza to shops, restaurants, and the other major downtown Houston office buildings.  Two Shell Plaza was completed in 1972.

 

Two Shell Plaza earned the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance as a result of a number of retrofits and upgrades to building equipment. An electronic building control system was installed, and a comprehensive lighting retrofit replaced existing lighting with high-efficiency three-lamp fluorescent fixtures with electronic ballasts. On the HVAC side, variable frequency drives (VFDs) were installed on Two Shell Plaza's air handling units, and on the cooling tower fans as well. Finally, to reduce energy waste from low power quality, an additional 1,000 KVAR was added to Two Shell Plaza's electric supply system.
