The Campbell Mithun Tower is a 42-story tower located on 9th Street and 3rd Avenue in the Central Business District of Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was constructed in 1986 as the headquarters of Piper Jaffray, an investment firm. It is connected to the TCF Bank Tower by the skyway system. The tower changed its name to Campbell Mithun Tower in 2002. The tower offers a deli, convenience store, hair salon, coffee shop, insurance agency, and a temporary staffing agency located in the skyway. Principal Real Estate Investors, the asset manager and fiduciary, works with Cushman & Wakefield NorthMarq, the local property manager, to practice responsible property investment at Campbell Mithun Tower. The property began monitoring energy performance with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and realized the property was elibible to earn the ENERGY STAR. The property has earned the ENERGY STAR every year since 2004.
In 2009, Campbell Mithun Tower achieved LEED for Existing Buildings Gold, and was re-certified LEED for Existing Buildings – Gold in 2014. The building also holds a BOMA 360 Designation from 2011 and 2014. Campbell Mithun Tower has implemented a sustainable purchasing policy to promote building purchasing decisions with ENERGY STAR certified equipment whenever feasible. The policy was also rolled out to building tenants and occupants in an attempt to focus their individual purchasing habits on ENERGY STAR rated products.
Additional efforts that improved the facility's ENERGY STAR score include monthly energy benchmarking through ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and working towards implementation of low- and no-cost solutions to energy efficiency. Some of those approaches include:
