As part of the Red Clay Consolidated School District, Alexis I. duPont High School fosters a scholastic atmosphere that inspires academic excellence in young adults.  The district has worked with the community to evaluate the existing building conditions and future educational needs of A.I. duPont High School as part of its 18-month facilities evaluation.  The renovations and upgrades enable the administration, faculty, and staff to continue providing quality education for all children in an enhanced physical environment.

A.I. duPont High School invested more than 10 million dollars in facility improvements.  Work was done in the following areas:  1) renovations and additions to classrooms, science labs, the auditorium, and other instructional spaces;  2) plumbing renovations; 3) an upgrade of athletic field bleachers; 4) lighting and electrical systems renovations, including technology, communications, and security; and 5) fire safety upgrades.

An ENERGY STAR partner since 2007, the district followed ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management throughout the design and completion of these major capital projects.  As a result, the school earned the ENERGY STAR in 2008 for superior energy efficiency.  Data compiled through Portfolio Manager and its reports continue to help verify that these improvements maximize the use of the school's energy resources.

* Publish articles in local media and school newsletter, and post information on the school's Web site.
* Provide resources and data to teachers and students for use with class projects.
* Present at faculty, parent, and school board meetings.
