Fairfield Elementary opened in September of 1975 and comprises approximately 58,300 square feet of space. Located in the densely populated Virginia Beach borough of Kempsville, the school serves the neighborhoods of Fairfield, Fairfield Gardens, Fairfield Forest, Newlight, Lake Archway, Carriage Mill, Woodbridge, Lake James, Saginaw Estates, Stoneybrook, Jamestowne, Homestead, Birnam, Haven Heights, Haven Estates, and Whitehurst Grove. Fairfield Elementary has an average enrollment of 500 students annually and is known for its culture of excellence. The school community is highly involved and supportive of the school and its students, and the school?s teachers and staff are dedicated to helping all students reach their true potential. In 2010, as part of a performance contracting capital improvement project, the division contracted with Noresco to implement a number of water and energy savings measures, including the replacement of lighting with more energy-efficient fixtures and the installation of lighting occupancy sensors.
