Torrington City Hall is a three-floor brick building constructed in 1936 that provides municipal government offices and support services including the regional Probate Court.  The building was built for use as a City Hall and underwent significant renovations in 2010.


Energy and cost savings measures made as part of the renovation included:


-- Installed an air-cooled scroll chiller and dry cooler for winter cooling.

-- Added roof-top Energy Recovery Units.

-- Utilized premium efficiency motors and variable frequency drives on all HVAC equipment.

-- Installed variable air volume control for ventilation air to chilled beams.

-- Changed all lighting to T-5 lamps.

-- Put all common corridor space lighting on an occupancy schedule.

-- Added a dedicated outside air active chilled beam HVAC System.

-- Installed occupancy sensors for all office and common space areas.

-- Installed non-operating double pane windows throughout the building.
