ENERGY STAR Plant Profile

General Motors Lansing Delta Township (LDT) Assembly Plant is GM?s newest plant in North America, blending the best practices and newest technology into one facility.  The facility builds the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Denali.  LDT?s energy intensity is 18% below industry average.

Lansing Delta Township received ENERGY STAR certification for Motor Vehicle Assembly Plants for the first time in 2011.

To achieve this certification, GM:

• Designed the plant to meet LEED Gold standard for energy efficiency in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning without using steam.
• Integrated energy management into monthly performance scorecards.
• Used efficient lighting and daylight harvesting to conserve energy.
• Monitored hourly energy use and plant controls to keep non-production energy to a minimum.

In addition to energy conservation, LDT has implemented other sustainable practices. For example, rainwater is collected from the roof and is used instead of potable water to flush toilets; Waterless urinals save more than 1 million gallons of water annually. Also, 75 acres have been set aside to preserve existing vegetation and wildlife habitat.
