Holcim Devil's Slide plant consists of a single production line, with five stage preheater precalciner dry process.  The current plant was built on the same site as an existing plant in 1997.  The plant has a capacity to produce over 1.0 million metric tons of cement per year.  The plant produces various Portland and blended cements.

The name "Devil's Slide" came from the fur trappers who named a unique rock formation located near the plant. It includes two parallel slabs of limestone rock, approximately 12 meters high and 4.5 meters apart that runs 245 meters up a hillside in Morgan County, UT.

In 1904 a group of local businessmen from Ogden, UT saw the cement making potential of the limestone mountain across from the Devil's Slide and formed the company, Union Portland Cement Company. They constructed and began operating a cement plant in late 1906 and the first cement shipped in 1907.  The first plant consisted of small dry kilns that produced approximately 110,000 metric tons of cement per year.  After World War II a new cement plant was constructed that consisted of two long wet kilns (122 meters long by 3 meters diameter) with annual cement production of approximately 320,000 metric tons.  The company was then known as Ideal Cement Company.  In 1986 Ideal Basic Industries (renamed from Ideal Cement Company) was purchased by now Holcim Ltd, and became part of Holcim (US) Inc.

The Devil's Slide plant was first awarded the ENERGY STAR in 2008.  An Energy Efficiency Assessment was performed to the Devil's Slide plant, and since then the plant has integrated the actions into an Energy Reduction Program.  The program has helped the plant to reduce energy consumption by 40 kBtu per ton of clinker manufactured. This has resulted in a savings of 23,000 mMBtu in 2008.
