Italcementi Group operates in the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico through Essroc. Set up in 1866 as Coplay Cement, the company started producing portland cement in 1872 in Nazareth, PA. In 1978 Ciments Francais rebuilt the company's Nazareth, PA production center and in 1992, Italcementi Group purchased controlling interest in Ciments Français.

With an annual cement production capacity of 1.3 million tons, the Nazareth site is an important asset in Essroc. The Nazareth site includes 3 plants, a quarry, and packing facility. The site produces 12 different types of cement. The 3 plants are connected by one 1.7 mile underground and aboveground long belt conveyor that transports limestone between the quarry and the main plant and clinker between the main plant and the grinding facility.
