Energy conservation efforts of the plant include:
? New Compressed air system installation yields a power savings of 2.44 million kWh annually. In addition a rebate was received from DP&L for this energy reduction.
? Improving thermal energy efficiency of kiln line through process optimization
? Improving energy efficiency of raw mill and finish mill through process optimization
? Installation of Variable Frequency Drives on key components; previously not capable of running at optimum performance.
As a result of the above-mentioned energy conservation measures, the plant has conserved 0.32 MMBtu/ton KK in thermal energy and reduced electrical energy consumption by 9.5%.
