Cumberland County Elementary School

Our elementary school is a K-5 school. We have close to 500 students in our rural, smalltown school. As a part of school community we have a student energy leadership team. This team has been educating our entire student body about saving energy. One way we have done this is by taking energy saving checklists to all classrooms and for the first two months of school the student energy team mentored all K thru 2 classrooms to help them learn how to follow their checklist each afternoon. We have been having Black Out days in our school once a month where we try not to use many lights or other sources of energy, including technology. These Black Out days are also hands-on activity days. We are planning to begin a recycling campaign in the next month.
