Paintsville HS PRIDE Club

Take the ENERGY STAR Pledge

The Paintsville HS PRIDE Club was established in 2006 as a middle school club by Hans Doderer,a science teacher at PHS. In two short years the the club evolved into a school wide(grade 7-12)club with more than 40 members. The club participates in community and school clean up efforts. The PRIDE Club has constructed a wetland area, greenhouse, and shelter on campus. In addition the club uses and developed an outdoor classroom on an island located at the Paintsville Lake. The first of it's kind in KY high schools; the outdoor classroom on an island concept has promoted many different hands -on activites that deal with a multitude of environmental topics and issues such as water quality, bird nesting boxes, biodiversity studies, invassive and native species, adaptations, and microinvertebrates, to name a few.
